Are You Up For The Challenge????

One of the lovely side effects of being a non-smoker is the amazing amount of weight you can gain.

I promised myself I wouldn’t trip over packing on the pounds.

And I haven’t. Too much. I’ve tried a couple of half-hearted attempts at exercising.

And Then!

I Saw This!

My best friend and I have decided to do this challenge. Our plan is to do our workout Monday through Friday. (We’ll need the weekend to recuperate the first week!) I wanted to put this out there for you guys to see if you’re interested in joining us. I will be putting up daily reports on how we fared on my tumblr: whosthathchelle

Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number

In a previous post, I confessed I am a secret judge. The other night, I took a stroll down the videos of talent and those with dreams. I came across a group called, The Zimmers. I was instantly curious and couldn’t wait to watch the video!

What an absolute delightful group!

I knew in that instant, they are the type of people, commonly called——————>elderly, I want to be when I’m their ages. My body may age over the years but my mind and spirit will remain alert and young!

Are they not absolutely delightful????!!!! Gone are the stereotypes that as we get older we lose our ability to have fun, to do crazy, zany things. Where is it written we’re to be tucked away in a retirement home, living only through memories.

How do you picture yourself in your Golden Years?

Secretly Competitive

I have a secret. About myself.
I am one of those people who is secretly competitive.
 Ssssshhhhh, don’t tell anyone.

I’m not really sure where that side of me comes from. I’m an only child, so I didn’t have to compete with siblings for attention or toys.

Growing up, the only sport I played was soccer. I really did enjoy the sport and happened to be on one of the 2 top teams. Sure, I would have liked for us to defeat our undefeated opponent. I thought we did pretty good considering they were undefeated.*At the end of the season, we had a well known German soccer player attend our banquet.* (Okay, it ticked me off that we lost to them by 1 point for the whole season. One little measly point!)

In 7th grade, I had a choice of Art or Band. Since I can’t draw a stick person to save my life, off to band I went. Yeah, we had competitions but I mainly went to those because I had to. *grade blackmail from the teacher* (Okay, I was competitive against Ellen P. because we were always neck and neck when it came to who was first chair for the flute!)

What brought this to my attention today is: I noticed as I’m playing Cityville on FB, I’m eyeballing what level my neighbor next to me is on. I quickly look up to see how many more XP I need to beat her. Crap, I still have almost 2 more levels to go. I don’t get how she’s still ahead of me. She’s hardly on FB. Maybe her strategy is better than mine. I don’t understand this. Click, click, click. Okay, some more XP’s. It’s all good. Now, I’ll go visit my other neighbors to gain more XP. While I wait for that game to load, let me check out what’s going on in Petville today. Haven’t played that one in awhile. Who am I still ahead of?

I  secretly gloat to myself when I win a game. This just happened a couple of weeks ago. It was a good ol’ game of Yahtzee. I have just learned to play this game in the last few months and the few times I played, I didn’t win. *shrugs. whateva. who cares??* But then, the last time we played, I was the WINNER!
In your face! But I didn’t say it aloud. I just clapped my hands like a delightfully happy kid and went on about my business.

Anyway, this was just something I realized today. Okay, maybe I didn’t just realize it today. I decided to own it. But it’s time for me to get back to Cityville and try to level up at least once tonight.

Just saying.
