All In A Day Of Working

Sometimes, Jeannie and I have gaps of time in between appointments.

Typically, we go to eat.

So we did.

Then we ended up with another gap of time.

So we went to check on a few of her horses. And got stuck in the mud.

Picture, if  you will:

Two self-appointed princesses telling  the other to get out and push!

Uh, not happening.

We called for help and after a good chewing out, the car was rescued.

And we went back to work!

I love days like this!

Jeannie is suppose to go back and fix this. Ha, ha! We all had a good laugh over that one!

We were asked, "When the ground went, squish, squish, why did you keep going??"

We were asked, “When the ground went, squish, squish, why did you keep going??”

Can you believe Lady is 30?

Happy is going to be bred. I didn't recognize her from her show days! What a difference hanging out makes!

Mama Kat’s Writing Workshop Prompt

One of the prompts for this week from Mama’s Losin’ It! is right up my alley. I chose:  Do you love YouTube? Share five of your all time favorite YouTube videos. Choosing which prompt I wanted to do was the easy part. Having to narrow down my favorite videos to a mere 5 was the hard part.

5. I can remember being a little girl and just singing my heart out when this song came on the radio. Of course, it didn’t really matter to me what The Manhattan’s song was about. I just liked the lyrics. However, I did think the song was about a man having to let his maid go. Don’t ask me how I came up with this but it did give me a good chuckle when, as an adult, I heard the song again and understood what it was really about.

4. If you read my blog, you know I like me some Tequila! No feet discrimination, I say!

3. Remember when you were just starting out with make-up? Did anyone else start off with the light blue and pink eye shadow?? Man, that was so popular when I was in Junior High. I think what makes me chuckle about men and make-up, is how much they don’t pay attention to the process we go through. Even when their wife does make-up videos.

2. One motivational speaker I NEVER get tired of listening to is Les Brown. I follow him on Twitter and have liked his Facebook page. Recently, he started a group on Facebook and I was excited to get an invite to the group.

1. I came across Katie Piper’s story as I was browsing through YouTube one day. Katie had the misfortune of meeting a man who changed her life in a way you wouldn’t imagine. Although Katie had a tough time at some points, she managed to turn things around and share her struggles with the world. I admire people like Katie because sometimes, just sometimes, it’s the not just the power of thought but having the strength to have that power.

1. Do you believe in the afterlife? Reincarnation?¬†Very interesting first question. I know I have had moments of deja vu; where you feel like you’ve lived a moment before, although technically, that’s impossible. Or so they say. I’ve often wondered, what if we are reincarnated, to right the wrongs, fix the mistakes, improve and appreciate what we did right the previous time around. I do believe in God. I do believe in Heaven. But I won’t pretend that I don’t question things. I get the concept of faith and what it means. I understand that just fine but I am curious at the same time about some of the different belief systems we have in the world. The bottom line is, we really don’t know what happens after we die.¬†

2. For your computer Mac or Windows-based computer? Desktop, lap top or other?¬†I have a Windows-based computer although I have used Mac’s before when I worked for a newspaper company. I also did a little rep work for Apple products. After using both, I have to say that I easily adjust to whatever’s in front of me. I think each operating system has its advantages. I would much rather play my S3 on a window but the creativity factor is endless on a Mac. Up until this lap top, I’d always owned a desk top. I admit, I was a little resistant to lap tops but now that I have one, I think I’d prefer to have a desktop for my office and the lap top for home.¬†

3. If you could witness any event, past, present, or future, what would it be?¬†For me, I would love to go back in time and hear Martin Luther King, Jr. give his ‘I Have A Dream’ speech. I can’t tell you what it is that has always pulled me to him or that speech. I remember, in junior high, our music class was putting on a musical of sorts. There was a solo speaking part which had a few lines from the ‘I Have A Dream’ speech. ¬†I have no doubt it was my crazy enthusiasm that won me the part. I have to say, doing those few lines during the show is a memory I will always cherish.¬†

4. What are you reading, fiction or non-fiction, or studying and would you¬†recommend¬†it?¬†I just finished reading ‘Monster’ by A. Lee Martinez. I typically get most of my books at the Dollar Tree so I usually don’t have any idea of what the author is like. I was pleasantly surprised and very drawn into this book. If you enjoy fun, zany magic and the idea of realms of life we might not acknowledge, this is a book for you. Studying? I tend to study things relating to my field. Right now, I’m getting ready to delve into the world of research by Aaron Beck (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) on borderlines and CBT. I’d recommend learning about CBT if you’re interested in human behavior and changes.¬†

Food For Thought (I Think)

Because grocery shopping can be confusing!

I like ice cream. I like bacon. But not together!

What?? Say it isn’t so!

Can’t pass this good deal up, can ya????

Whew!
It is time-consuming taking
the bones out of bananas!

Let’s see,
fried chicken, tater salad, and good ol’ fried
kool aid!

That’s what I’m talking about. I can pull up, load my plate, eat, and drive back through for more!

Some More Of Those Random Thoughts!

I’m watching one of those cheesy horror flicks. Well, not really watching it. I’m working on a prompt, keeping up with my Cafe World, and have the movie on for background noise. I can’t even tell you what the title is. The story line is a handful of college kids “break” into an abandoned building, get drunk, and the next morning they’re locked in. Of course, one by one, they’re disappearing and being tortured. Guess the building wasn’t so abandoned.

So why am I telling you this?

At one point, I hear one of the girls say, “Why are you doing this?”

That started my brain thinking.

Why is it in horror movies, 9 out of 10 times, the victim asks that question? I mean, the insane killer is obviously INSANE!

Then my brain went on to ask the question: Do you think the killer is going to stop his torture, grab a cup of coffee, maybe offer you a cigarette from his pack as he sits down to explain why he is doing this?

How would that conversation go, I wondered?

Would he share with you the tremendous amounts of insight gathered as victims were tortured and butchered. As the ax¬†slams down on the arm, does the killer ponder, ‘I wonder why I am doing this? Why am I taking such delight in severing this poor girl’s arm? I mean, look, she obviously had a manicure recently. Her nails look nice, outside of the nail polish. Such a shame to chop her arm off.’

Then we have the dramatic pause as the killer looks at his victim, who is whimpering, “Why are you doing this?”

A clash of music as the killer tells her, “Because I don’t like the color of your nail polish, biotch!”

Chop!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, okay, I will make a slight confession.

If I found myself in that predicament, I too, would ask the question. I really would. I would be morbidly fascinated with what would make a person choose this, um, career path.

I would throw out questions asking about childhood, parents, siblings, all those things that might give me an understanding as to why the killer is wanting to do some type of chop suey on my limbs.

I mean, isn’t it only fair that I get to try to understand why you’re about to show off your carving skills on my body?

Let’s take it a step further, shall we. Let’s say my killer is somewhat of a narcissist and offers me a cup of coffee and a cigarette as ¬†he/she shares with me the events which led up to me on the chopping block.

Bottom line?

He would still chop me up.

Non-Bloggers Just Don’t Understand

It’s safe to say, Jeannie doesn’t bat an eye when I whip out my trusty ol’ phone and start taking pictures. She’s use to it and ¬†knows I’m always on the lookout for a blogging topic. But when you enter ¬†in the people who aren’t use to me taking pictures, they give me that odd look. You can see it written all over their faces: ‘Why is she taking a picture of that?’ Jeannie, on the other hand, will say, ‘Hey, you forgot to take a picture of your food!’ ¬†OR ‘Here’s a good picture for you take.’

So, to my non-blogging friends, I’m just a little camera happy but that’s okay. I capture funny and wonderful memories that make up the pieces of my life.

A great reminder of the evening spent
having dinner with family and friends.

Once he decided I was okay,
he was full face in my camera.

Jeannie couldn’t wait to try to pet the goats.
I was more leery,
picturing the goat trying to head-butt us!

Just a lil of the mess Jeannie prepared for “R’s” birthday. My birthday is next month and “R” has already promised some type of payback!

Who knew a ‘pig stick’ could be so pretty?

Why yes, horses wear leg warmers
and are big fans of the ’80’s!

Stormy Monday

Ah yes, our good friend Monday has rolled around yet again. The past few days have been crazy hot but today had a little twist to it. Most of us were hoping for a good soaking whereas Jeannie was not. Her dad has been spending the last few days baling hay for her horses and she did not want her bales getting wet. (Don’t forget to check out the contest we have going on to name Jeannie’s new Colt.)

Before the storm hit, I took some pictures and while we were driving around in it. Hey, we had to do some shopping. Rain won’t stop us. A little thunder won’t stop us. Although, the lightning did make us kinda second guess our trip. But it still didn’t stop us!

I love how half the sky was blue and the other half with dark clouds.

The storm hit in certain parts of the area and didn’t touch down in others.

This is what my porch looks like after a nice down pour.

My poor plant received a little bit of a mud bath.
